YouTube the wildly successful video sharing site may begin to begin a profit sharing agreement with its millions of users that upload its content. Co-founder Chad Hurley made several statements confirming this at the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland. Hurley stated “We are getting an audience large enough where we have an opportunity to support creativity, to foster creativity through sharing revenue with our users”. This is a shift in attitude from company, which from its conception resisted profit sharing with users because it wanted to emphasize the love of videos not making money. This comes after competitor Revver announced it would begin a profit sharing agreement with its users.
My take on the mater is that many professional filmmakers and production companies would love to tap into the huge audience that YouTube offers. Thus we should a lot of legal professional done content on YouTube in the future.
